        3 time AMA National Champion

Randy Renfrow

Randy Renfrow

Randy Renfrow 1956–2002 was an amazing person. He was a great businessman and friend to all who met him. He was small in physical size, but he was a giant among other men. Tough as titanium! After motocross racing hurt his knees, Randy tried motorcycle roadracing. He was all over the track until he figured it out. His strong, fit small body, propelled him to many WERA national and regional championships. Randy moved on to AMA Pro Racing and earned the 1983 AMA 250 GP National Champion title on a Yamaha TZ 250. In 1985 and 1986, Randy raced as a privateer in the AMA Formula One class aboard his Honda RS 500, a $35,000 pure factory race bike. In 1986, Randy Renfrow clinched the final AMA Formula One National Championship on his Honda.
For 1987, Randy hooked up with Martin Adams of Kentucky and campaigned the Commonwealth Racing Honda; a homemade race bike featuring a Honda RS 750 dirt track motor in a trick rolling chassis. The Commonwealth Honda Team with Randy racing its bike won the AMA Battle of the Twins National Championship title in 1989. For the 1990 season, Team Commonwealth went Superbike racing with a Honda RC 30. Randy almost won the 1990 Daytona 200 but got nipped by winner David Sadowski by 6/10ths of a second at the finish line! Randy raced in Europe and Japan on exotic 250 GP and endurance racing motorcycles. His love for AMA Pro 250 racing continued with many successful years racing a Honda RS 250 prepared by brother Shawn Renfrow and tuned by friend John Lassak. Randy had a traumatic accident (away from the track) that took his life. Our Champion, hero, and friend is gone after 46 fast and wonderful years of life. Rest in Peace, brother Randy Renfrow.
